Can VIM help me get my prescription medications?
Yes. Once you are a VIM patient, many of your medications can be filled at VIM’s pharmacy. Pharmaceutical companies give these medications to VIM for low-income patients. Bring all of your prescriptions to the pharmacy window and we will do our best to help you.

Do I have to pay for the medications that I get from the VIM pharmacy?
No. We do not charge you for any medications from the VIM pharmacy. However, we always welcome donations!  These help us keep the clinic open for you and your family.

What if I need a medication that you do not have?
Sometimes you will need to get your medications from a pharmacy outside of VIM. This may be Safeway, Walgreens, Shopko, Bi-Mart, Rite-Aid, Walmart, or Costco. You will have to pay for these medications. We will help you find the least expensive place to get the medication you need.

Do you give pain medications?
No. We do not prescribe pain medications or cannabis for treatment.

How should I take my medications? 
Every medication is different. Some medications need to be taken daily. Daily medications are important for conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure and other diseases that do not go away. Some medications may be needed only for a short time, such as antibiotics for an infection. It is very important that you follow the exact directions on the box or bottle. If you have any questions about how to take your medication, call the pharmacy. Use the phone number that is on the box or the bottle. If no one answers, follow the instructions to leave a message.

What is a “side effect” of a medication?
In some cases, a medication may cause a side effect. These may include an upset stomach, constipation, diarrhea, dry mouth or tiredness. If you are concerned about a possible side effect of a medication, please talk to the pharmacy that filled your medication. Use the phone number that is on the box or the bottle. If no one answers, follow the instructions and leave a message.

What if I run out of a medication that I need to take every day?
It’s important to call the pharmacy one week before your run out of a medication. Sometimes the pharmacy will need to re-order a medication, and that can take a few days. Call the phone number on the box or bottle. If no one answers the phone, follow the instructions to leave a message.

What if the bottle says, “no more refills”?
Call the phone number on the bottle anyway. The pharmacy will ask the doctor if it is OK to refill the prescription for you.

When is the VIM pharmacy open?
The pharmacy is open only during clinic hours:

Monday:    1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Tuesday:   4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Wednesday:   Closed
Thursday:   8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Friday:   8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Saturday:   Closed
Sunday:   Closed
