Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) Clinic of the Cascades is a non-profit medical clinic serving low income, uninsured families in Deschutes County, Oregon. We care for people who do not qualify for the Oregon Health Plan or Medicare and have no insurance of any kind. We do this by engaging volunteer doctors, nurses, therapists, pharmacists, interpreters and other community members who have a passion for our mission and demonstrate the culture of caring and kindness on which the VIM Clinic was founded.

The "Culture of Caring" is the heart and soul of our clinic. It is based on an ethical standard in medicine that was once practiced and seems rare these days. We believe in the inherent worthiness and dignity of each person and do our best to demonstrate kindness, respect and patience in all of our interactions. We care for people, not only their illness. We do not judge our patients because of their circumstances but encourage and teach them to improve their own health, as best they can. We recognize the strengths of those in need and respect their dignity. We seek to heal not only physical illnesses, but also the injury caused by bias, isolation or indifference.
