2012 Call for Nominations Press Release
“Every day dedicated local medical professionals donate their skills to serve others, simply because they love the art – and heart – of medicine. Their work in our clinic, and outside of it, is inspiring yet not well known,” according to Kat Mastrangelo, Executive Director of VIM. “We initiated the Ronald E. Carver, MD Heart of Healthcare Award in 2011 to recognize these individuals that touch so many.”
This Award is named after Ronald E. Carver, MD, whose life, and work, exemplifies the volunteer spirit that is so prominent in our medical community. Dr. Carver is a founder of Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades (VIM) and was its first medical director.
Nominations are open to any Central Oregon doctor, dentist, nurse, mental health provider, or other licensed medical professional who volunteers their time to care for the health of others.
Meet the 2011 Winners – Michael L. Mara, MD and Colette M. Whelan, RN
