Donate to VIM

There are many of ways which individuals, organizations and foundations can help VIM improve health and wellness in Deschutes County. Most gifts are tax deductible and 100% of the donations to VIM are used locally.

Email Bill Kemp, Development Director or call 541.330.9054 for more information about donations.

Planned Gifts

Volunteers in Medicine Clinic of the Cascades has established the “Founders’ Society” to encourage outright and planned gifts to VIM to build our endowment. Members of the Founders’ Society make known their intent to make an outright or planned gift to support the Clinic’s Endowment Fund.

A planned gift is generally a gift made from an individual’s estate and could be in the form of a bequest or a life-income gift (generally a trust arrangement). A bequest would come to VIM after the donor’s death whereas a trust could be set up now to provide the donor with current income for the remainder of their, or their spouses, life. Trusts come in many forms and may offer significant tax benefits to donors including reducing estate taxes, avoiding capital gains, and securing significant tax savings. In addition, donors may change the beneficiary of their insurance polices to VIM, or take out a new policy naming VIM as the beneficiary, and thereby make an estate gift.

VIM will work with the donor’s tax advisor and attorney to provide the language for an estate gift and/or to help with setting up a trust arrangement. To become a member of the “Founders’ Society,” a donor simply has to declare their intent in writing to make a gift from their estate to VIM. Please contact Bill Kemp, Development Director (330-9054), to secure the intent form. If you have already named VIM as a beneficiary of your estate, please call the Development Director so that we can be sure to enroll you as a member of our Founders’ Society.

In-Kind Donations

Non-cash goods and services are often donated to VIM and are greatly appreciated. Below are some ideas, guidelines and contacts for in-kind donations.

Go to VIM's Wish List of current items needed at the Clinic.

Office and Medical Supplies

VIM will accept donations of office and medical supplies when we know that we can use the particular items. We ask that you call and arrange your donation before bringing it to the Clinic 541.330.9001.

Food and Beverages

At the VIM Clinic we offer our volunteers a place to take a break and have a snack. Our kitchen area almost entirely stocked by donated food items. Businesses such as Strictly Organic, that has donated coffee since we opened, and Mrs. Beasley's, that donates dinner for our Tuesday night Volunteers every month, help keep our volunteers nourished and happy. Individuals on the Volunteer Hospitality Team supply a variety of snacks on a weekly basis. And sometimes, someone just feels like baking their favorite banana bread and dropping it by the Clinic. If you are interested, please email Kristi or call 541.585.9008 to arrange for your donation.

Pro bono services

There are several hundred healthcare professionals in the community who donate imaging, laboratory services and medical and surgical care to VIM patients outside of the VIM Clinic. These services are a vital and integral part of keeping VIM patients healthy and productive. Go to Community Healthcare Partners to learn more. Please email Dr. Bob Hakala or call 541.585.9017 for more information.

Some organizations donate ongoing services, such as Bend Garbage, that donates garbage removal. And other businesses provide services and products for a project such as landscaping or building maintenance.
